Shawntez Matthews '19 Recruiting Profile

I am a 6’0” 215lb Linebacker and Runningback from Logan, WV. I attend Logan High School and I have started on the Varsity team since my Freshman year. I have earned 1st Team All Conference and All State Honorable Mention as a sophomore. I was honored with MVP at the beginning of my junior year and I have also led the Wildcats defense in tackles for two years straight. 

I have been playing football since I was five years old. I fell in love with the game at an early age and I stuck with it. My dream has always been to be successful and to make it to the next level. I work hard on and off the field. I train all year round to become faster, stronger and to improve my chances of getting to the next level. 

As a team captain I feel like I am a positive influence and role model for my teammates. I am loyal, dedicated and offer leadership on the field as well as in the classroom. 

My goal is to be able to play at a high academic school where I can pursue a career in the medical field. I am looking for the right school to be successful on and off the field and I am open to all options. I also hope to make my family very proud of me.
