Personal Statement

Every morning, I awake I give praise to God for giving me another day, because I understand without him nothing is possible.  My next thoughts are of playing college football and having a chance to play in the NFL, as this has been my dream since the age of 9.  From studying footwork, analyzing runs/catches and understand defensive/offensive strategies, the excitement and fulfillment of playing football is all I know.  My journey has prepared me for the next phase of my football career and with humbleness I'm going to be the narrator of my story.

My parents raised me to be grateful for all things; My father who played college football and some semi pro has been my coach on and off the field and he has helped me understand what kind of commitment and passion I need to accomplish my goals.  Being humble and playing sports with grace, I thank my mother for that. My extreme focus in the classroom has led to leadership on the field.  My confidence has guided me into advocating for myself amongst teachers and peers.  My determination to succeed has driven me to maximize all my resources to someday play college ball.  I won a DI WIAA high school football championship, and my goal is to achieve this in college and the NFL.  It would mean everything thing me to bring success to a university that has great tradition.

What makes me a great teammate is that I'm not selfish.  Credited again to my up bring, in my wanting to be great, I understand I must make those around me great.  I'm very coachable, I do exactly what my coach ask of me, if I ever have a question, I'm not afraid to ask.  I come to practice on time and usually is the last one to leave practice.   I've created workout session with teammates and competitors in hopes to strengthen each other and help us all achieve our dreams of playing in the NFL.  I learned at an early age there's no "I" in team, but there is "I" in "Winning".  During my freshmen year in basketball, I helped a teammate who was struggling with playing time to not quit, through communication, my actions and building a stronger bond on and off the court.  As a leader, understand my position role on the team is extremely important, as well as understand what our entire team might need in a leader.

My dad always told me that in college and pros everyone can play football, but wants separate players are what's in their heart and mind.  With humbleness, in every football game I've played and on every team that I've participated on, my skillset has always stood out.

In the classroom, I'm a hard worker.  In my freshmen year, I experience a challenge; I need to adjust from the small classroom middle school with two teachers teaching all subjects to National Blue Ribbon all-boys catholic Jesuit school.  By prioritizing my academics, going to school early, staying after school, missing practices to take test, emailing teachers I was able to receive good grades, similar to my middle school years.

With much integrity, if you give me the opportunity to represent your university my commitment to you will go beyond my football years.  I take pride in myself in representing my family, my high school an all-boys who share this same goal/dream I have to play college football and a chance to play in the NFL.

Sincerely,

Peyton "P14" Roby-Brown
