Gavin Cook Whisenton '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Gavin Cook-Whisenton and I’m a senior at Liberty High School in Brentwood, California. My academics are as important to me as basketball. I am interested in learning more about your basketball program. I have 3.0 non-weighted GPA. As a 2nd grader, I began playing basketball and have played ever since. 

My current senior high school season has been very successful.   Liberty High School hosted the annual Stonebarger Tournament where I was awarded the All Tournament Award and the Desert Holiday Inn Classic '23 in Palm Springs.   In the 33rd West Holiday Tournament, December 2023, I was awarded with the Most Valuable Player award.  

This recent AAU season, our team East County Hornets went three for four of championship games nationally in Arizona, Nevada and Southern California.   I am able to keep plays alive using my high basketball IQ, getting my teammates open, and assisting my team score points.   Basketball has enhanced my quick decision making and has shaped me as a person and my goal is to execute the same skills and passion in all aspects of my education.
