Kaden Toney '24 Recruiting Profile

I remember playing basketball at the park with my mother when I was 7 years old. When she came home from work, she made sure I completed my homework and my reading, and then we would play ball until the street lights came on. When things got financially hard for us, I went to live with my grandparents for about a year, and although my mom worked 2 jobs and attended college all in a day, she still volunteered at my school, played ball with me and encouraged me to express gratitude and pray for better days. I have participated in sports such as basketball, football, swim, and baseball since I was  around 6 years old. My father was an amazing track runner back in his day, so my family always told me that I would be fast like him.  I can beat him now, in the 100 meter dash. But I have always enjoyed  watching basketball games on TV with my father and Papa. I was inspired by Micheal Jordan and Ja Morant. Those two really made me fall in love with the game. And like Jordan, I appreciate his work ethic on the court and off the court. Like MJ, Steph Curry, and Kyrie Irving, I aspire to merge my first love (basketball) with fashionable sports apparel and shoes. When I earn my college degree, it will not only elevate both my learning and life experiences, but it will advance me to be an asset to youth that come from where I come from. My strengths include being coachable, having  integrity, and striving to do all things thoroughly by giving 110%  in everything I do.
