Personal Statement

Going 20-9 and making the basketball playoffs was a highlight of my varsity career. I started to play basketball in  4th grade and started to progress towards my goal of playing basketball in high school. I was a bright kid getting 4’s in my subjects which is equivalent to an A in high school. In middle school I had A’s and B’s along with that I started to lose a little weight, but not enough to be skinny. We went 8-2 7th grade and 9-1 8th grade being the number 1 middle school basketball team in our conference. Freshman year was when my passion for basketball truly started off, I started to go to the gym where I lifted weights and started training with my basketball trainer working on my jump shot and my handles. Sophomore year, I had lost about 30 pounds now being down to 220 pounds, I had developed a mid range range jump shot that year and started to play in a lot of games. That year was my first year playing AAU basketball for a team and I started to shoot and I did pretty well that year winning a lot of tournaments. My junior year, I developed a 3 point jump shot from staying at the gym for several hours a week working on my shot and playing in pickup games. I lost another 30 pounds now being 185 pounds being more agile and quicker.

I am a hard working kid who is willing to put in the work necessary to play at the next level, I have gained muscle mass throughout the past several years, I have increased my stamina on the court to not get tired, and I put in the work in the classroom getting good grades. Currently I have had a 3.4 gpa or better in my high school years and I hope to continue my good grades in college.
