Personal Statement

I am a talented, overachiever. My mentality about life changed when I was in the 9th grade. I know that I want to be a “somebody”, and I know that you’re not going to be successful overnight. I constantly “push myself” to become who I want to be. I often thank God because he gave me parents who are very authentic, hard-working, and compassionate. They’ve shown me what happens to misguided kids my age, they often preach not to get caught up in what the “world” is doing. I strive to win in every situation that tries to disrupt my path or “take me off course”, I want to be extraordinary.

In high school, I’ve received the Honor Roll award every year and I plan on receiving that award again this year. In 11th grade I took two advanced placement classes for World History and English Language, I did not get the grade that I wanted but it was an experience that was beneficial to me. My dad would take me to the Salvation Army in Compton, where I helped in serving the homeless hot meals, giving toys out to families, and working carnivals for the community. I would assist my mom with the family furniture business by opening the store, flipping the sign, assembling furniture, and setting up the showroom floor.

I want to attend a university that will expand my knowledge in the medical field and give me an opportunity to represent a basketball team in the NCAA.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
