My parents are not sports-oriented individuals. I approached my dad in elementary and told him I desired to play basketball. Since then, my parents and my family have joined my developmental, academic, and neurological journey of learning the fundamentals of basketball while coping with my ADHD, which led to eventually coming and seeing me play basketball at my local park, later at middle school gyms with a local youth basketball league, and currently watching me play at high school gyms with my high school basketball team and travel basketball team. My family is important as they invest time, patience, and money to take me to various basketball developmental programs, camps, academic support services, and other cultural experiences. I wake my parents at 4, 5, or 6 am to take me to basketball practices, injury prevention, and strength training. My family and being part of a basketball team have been significant sources of my academic, emotional, neurological, and social success. I have been modeled unity, compassion, collaboration, confidence, respect, inclusivity, and determination by my parents and family. I carry these values and teachings with me to my high school basketball team and travel basketball team. I don't believe in switching teams and am loyal to my coaches and teammates, even during tough times. I am a student-athlete and can relax and have fun with my friends, girlfriend, and high school rock band. I am easygoing and love being part of programs that inspire me to be a leader and serve as captain of my junior varsity team and was recently promoted to my high school varsity team. I want to study something sports-related, physical therapy or occupational therapy. I bring energy, good vibes, and grit to my craft.
I look forward to adding my college team to my family.
