Ryan Kelly '16 Recruiting Profile

Basketball has become my passion. Until this year, I was a three-sport athlete. I have now shifted my focus to only basketball and a career beyond high school. I appreciate the influences of my former coaches from football and baseball and I try to bring their lessons to my basketball game. I have learned that a great lesson to live by is no matter what you are doing, do it with a purpose. I may not be fastest or tallest competitor on the court but I will always try to out hustle each other person on the court. I consider being a great teammate at the top of my priority list because it will have a major impact on our group success. I am a team leader and have always tried to lead by example both on and off the court. My basketball IQ and ability to shoot the basketball are two traits that I believe separate me from other players I go up against on a daily basis. As a junior, I won the IHSA regional 3-point shooting contest and finished in the final four at sectionals. I also set the record for the most three pointers made by a freshmen at my school. I consider my basketball sense and my desire to succeed will be qualities that will help me gain a significant advantage over my opponents.
