Jean has been chosen to go to Italy by the Hoop Factory Elite-Canada for the Junior International tournament 2010. ===================================================================== From Jean I am really intense in everything I am doing. I like to do well and enjoy all the steps in my life. I like to help the younger kids. I exchange very well with them because I went through the same process. I had the chance to have good persons around me and I tried to be good to people around me. I know I have a lot to learn and I am ready to work hard to improve. When I started basketball at the age of 13, I only used to play soccer and football. It was not easy to change sport and adjust myself to another style of coaching and team. I enjoyed all the steps bad and good, always looking for ways to become a better person and a better athlete. I like challenges. When I had to change from my school Franco Cité to Ashbury College, it was a big challenge for me: changing from a French Catholic Public School to a Private English school; leaving friends that I had since grade one or three; changing from French to English. It was not easy. I had to make choices. I had a scholarship for basketball and I wanted to keep my good marks in sciences and maths. It was a real challenge for me. I took the opportunity, ready to work hard. I have a great sense of humour that helps me to make friends at Ashbury College. I found also kids that I knew in my old soccer team. Again sport helps me to make the transition. Good teachers and my coach Mr. Ian McKinnon ease the way for me. In my third year in Ashbury College, I can still say it was a good choice. It is not easy to manage sport and academic but I think it is like that for everybody who wants to do well in sports and also academically. It feels good to take that opportunity. The way I dealt with that challenge built my character makes me more confident in my capacity to overcome difficulties. I am taking IB French and I am very proud of the work I made on the ??Nihilism??. My teacher Mr. Pelletier is very proud of me. However, during the OFSA tournament, it was hard to meet his expectations. We had the gold medal for Ontario and I am proud of my contribution to my basketball team. Trying to find the right balance between school and sport is a real challenge that I enjoy to overcome each year.
