Personal Statement

I decided to start playing basketball seriously when I was about 9 years old. Before then I was just playing in regular rec leagues just for something to do on a saturday afternoon. But one day I was playing at the local YMCA and shot a three and I had heard a sound that i've heard many times but never truly heard to its full beauty. The swish. The nothing but net. Hearing that wonderful noise made my heart skip a beat and it felt amazing, so amazing that I have been obsessed with that noise ever since and have been obsessed with basketball ever since.From playing basketball basically everyday I have realized a few things about myself. I hate to lose, I love to win, whenever I lose a game I did poorly in or even if I had a great game it fuels my fire and drives me to work much, much harder than I already am.

I’m not going to lie, I am not the richest person in the world. My family is poor so we can’t really afford to send me to these exclusive basketball camps where there is a bunch of ranked players there so I get most of my training from going down to the park where there was a hoop and I would just work on my skills there. I don’t need any of that fancy stuff either, all I need is a ball and a hoop. Academics are an important part of my life, I focus more on the “student” part of student athlete, i’ve been repeatedly told that I need a “plan b” option to fall back on just in case I don’t play professionally  so my expectation is to maintain simple A’s and B’s and nothing less. I’m in the process of figuring out what I want to do if that “ plan b” option fall upon me. Until then I am pouring my heart into basketball.

My Life hasn’t been the toughest life but it also hasn’t been the easiest. Don’t get me wrong I am extremely blessed to have both my parents in my life, they work very hard to do what they can for me. The rest I know I have to go out there and get it myself and that is exactly what I plan on doing. I hope the information I have provided you with helps with whatever your searching for.
