Personal Statement
As a Freshman, I played a significant amount of time on Varsity. I realized then that I wanted to become a future leader on my basketball team. I set a goal to become a starter my Sophomore year. During the summer before my Sophomore year, I took advantage of every open gym, played in a summer league, and when I had extra time I worked on my shooting and ball handling skills. You could even find me shooting in my driveway well past dark! My Sophomore year I was awarded the starting point guard position. I was All Conference Honorable Mention and made the Section All-Tournament Team. I am excited to see what this next season holds as I was voted to be a captain this coming season by my teammates. I am competitive and put everything I have into academics, practices, and games and I expect the same from my teammates. I play basketball with a lot of heart and emotion, which I think makes me a better athlete. Emotion helps me strive to become a better player. Emotion pumps me and my teammates up and it also guides me to be a better leader for my team. Communication with my coaches has also been key in reaching my goals so far.
At this time, I am not sure what the best college is for me. I am open to all options to see what the best fit is for me academically and athletically. If I am selected to be a part of a college basketball program, I will be ready to compete at that higher level.
