My name is Jamale James and I am currently a student at West Jones High School on Laurel, MS. I started out playing basketball at the age of 8 when I was set to play for a beginners team, until a coach for an older team, noticed me shooting around in a gym. So he asked me to play for his team. I was the only 8yr old on a team of 11 and 12 year olds. That season was the start of my love for the game of basketball. Year after year, no matter what team I played on, I was always the youngest player on the team. My parents and coaches thought it would be a good thing for me to play with older kids to heighten my skill set. My goal in life is to play for a a D1 school and to major in Physical Therapy. What sets me apart from the rest, is the fact that I’m coachable. I listen to what my coaches and trainers mold in me, and I put forth what I learn into the way I play ball. I also take my grades and extracurricular school activities very seriously. I try to keep myself well rounded and involved as much as possible. Being an only child, I have to find alternate ways to be social in a positive way. My parents raised me to be a leader and not a follower.
