The aspects which differentiate me from other potential scholarship-worthy players is my work ethic and the full throttle relentlessness I play with. Being here at Scotland Campus has ingrained such a work ethic in me, where I immerse myself in three hard workouts during the day and also treat practice like I would a game. Coach Chris Chaney, he is a legendary prep coach who has had a hand in cultivating the talent of hundreds of Division-I players. One thing he really emphasizes is having a good practice and trying out outplay others in practice. His words have definitely proven prophetic this year, as we have a number of skilled guards who are constantly fighting for minutes and looking to one up each other in practice. We have great rapport with each other on and off the court, but of course practice is a battlefield in a sense and everyone has to prove themselves because of the uber competitive level of basketball this is.
I also have always been a high energy guy who loves to get his teammates going. I never antagonize any of my teammates and only hype them up in practice, while sustaining loyal relationships with them throughout the year. As a point guard, it is very similar to a quarterback in football. You need everyone to love you in order to be successful. As corny as that may sound, it is true. You hold the keys to the team's cohesive engine and how receptive they are to you matters, as you are essentially an extension of the coaching staff on the court So, learning this and being able to build a strong foundation with my teammates and head coach has certainly worked in my favor during my time here at Scotland.
My ability to grind here at Scotland Campus, where I make my own schedule and have demanding early morning workouts and team practices, ultimately has bettered prepared me for college. A lot of college is understanding the time management concepts and being here at Scotland has enabled me to grasp that ability.
