At an early age I was taught the importance of setting goals. I have found this to be helpful in identifying my successes, and also make improvements where needed. My collegiate goals will begin with exploring degree options in sports medicine. I believe this is a major that will allow me to focus on athlete nutrition, injury prevention and to help people heal from sports injuries and return to the sport they love. During my college years I plan to do things on purpose with a purpose as I expand in knowledge and skill. When I reach my goal of attending a college, I will welcome the challenges of hard work and persistence. On the court I plan to remain an aggressive and passionate team player and leader. I will act with a disciplined approach on and off the court as I represent the coach, team and school that I attend.
From as far back as I can remember I've had a passion for sports and competition. For example, I can remember at the age of 4, playing in many different instructional sports. Since then, I’ve narrowed down to two sports, and I’ve competed nationally for football and basketball. Basketball has become the sport at the top of my list. I can attribute my athletic growth and development to my little league coaches who constantly believed in me, taught and encouraged me to reach my full potential. Growing up, I played sports with older guys because my brother is 3 years older than me. It was a challenge to keep up with them. I enjoyed the challenge of playing against the older, more skilled players because to this day it has helped me to become better.
I expect more of myself, so I continue to invest a lot of time in development in basketball by playing AAU, attending different camps, and I spend hours of my personal time watching film and in the gym working on skills to enhance my all-around game. My basketball game is led by a high basketball IQ, leadership and strong ball handling skills. In addition, I am very versatile on the court. I can drive the lane, score, draw fouls, and open opportunities for teammates through drive and kick.
It is my goal to reach full potential in all aspects of life on and off the court. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how I can be a future athlete and asset on your team.
