Evan Vaishville '22 Recruiting Profile

Hi Coach,

I am excited to pursue my academic and athletic goals at the next level and looking forward to playing basketball under your guidance.

My path to playing basketball is a bit uncommon and it demonstrates my commitment to teamwork, coachability, and growth. In middle school, I was the first baseman on the school baseball team, the captain of the school’s tennis team, the defensive captain of the flag football team, and played on the ultimate frisbee team.  As my high school has a few competitive sports teams, I surpassed all expectations by making the junior basketball team without any prior organized basketball experience. 

I quickly learned the basic skills of basketball and rose to be the sixth men on the team even starting a few games.  By the end of my freshmen year, the varsity coach has offered a spot on the varsity team. While most honored by the invitation, I decided to stay on the junior varsity team to gain more playtime and game experience. It was not an easy decision but our team, with me being the starter has won our division in 2019. 

I have developed a high basketball IQ and have become proficient in finding the open man when I drive. My three-point and midrange shot have both been rapidly developing ever since I began playing. I can effectively finish with both hands around the rim creating a well-rounded offensive game.  My coach often plays me the whole game because I can effectively cover large, aggressive offensive players.

Because of the COVID-19 restrictions, we are still working on getting video footage together that demonstrates the many aspects of my game.
