My name is Clark Flores, and I am a sophomore at the New Explorations into Science Technology and Math, a Gifted and Talented High School in Lower Manhattan. My collegiate goal is to graduate with a bachelor's degree in finance and hopefully be able to play professionally after I graduate. I believe I am a great candidate to play college basketball because of my work ethic and attitude. I work out and lift weights 6 out of 7 days a week in order to gain skill on and off the basketball court. I am very passionate about weightlifting, and I have met a lot of people who are helping me on my journey. My weightlifting trainer is a former D1 basketball player at Indiana University, and I often meet college basketball players during private workouts at my gym. My former coaches and my parents have always taught me that attitude and confidence are everything on the court, you could be the best player in the gym, but if you don't believe in yourself, you won't make it far. That is why I always try to stay as positive as I can on and off of the basketball court to stay motivated and confident. The thing that puts me ahead and makes me different from the other recruits is my mindset. The late Kobe Bryant has always been an inspiration of mine because of his own mindset. I wake up every day at 5 am and workout before school, because I know that doing that every day is going to put me miles ahead of everyone who sleeps in and chooses not to give it their all. I am also able to balance basketball and school; most student-athletes focus more on the athletic side of things and slack off in school. On the other hand, I try to maintain a high GPA and a high work ethic in the gym. I train every day to gain muscle and experience in order to put myself ahead of my competition at the high school level, and because of that I believe I am a great candidate to be a college athlete.
