Markell Carothers '25 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing basketball since I was four years old. Since I first stepped on the court, I have developed a love and passion for the game and a desire to play at the collegiate level.

I have strong ball handling skills, am very crafty around the rim, am a scrappy defender, have a high basketball IQ and have mental toughness. I am a team leader who encourages my teammates and I bring great energy. I am very coachable and enjoy coaching my teammates to success. I strive to be one of the hardest working players on my team and am one of the hardest working recruits you will find. 

I work hard all year long on improving my basketball skills, even choosing to attend a college preparatory school, Lincoln Charter, for a year to be able to play on a more competitive team. I have also participated in summer basketball camps, and spent several years on AAU teams, playing in live events in which I competed against the best basketball players in the region, which all contributes to my athleticism.

In the classroom, I study hard in my honors and AP courses, maintaining a 4.0 GPA. 

I also volunteer at a local sports camp and have assisted with a recreation center basketball program.

I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the basketball court. I want to find the right college match at the highest level of competition. 

I hope to become a great role model for my siblings and peers and make my family proud.
