Personal Statement
I am a 6'8 basketball Center, in my Senior Year. If you had asked me a year ago if I could play basketball on a college level, I probably would have told you no. Going to a small rural high school with a graduating class of 100, I didn't think it was possible. In the past year, I worked out more to build body mass and strength, and I joined a basketball club that is really helping me develop into the player I want to be. The coaches have pushed me to realize that I have potential. I work hard, and try to be my best self on the court. I am even tempered, a good teammate and accept and learn from criticism and coaching. My strengths on the court include rebounding, screening, posting up and mid-range jump shots. In my Junior year I was named All Conference Honorable Mention and lead the team with 11 blocked shots.
More than anything, I am proud that I come from a family who taught me that good character and hard work will take me further in life than anything else. I try to be the best person I can be. I am a good friend, dependable, charitable and like to help others. I have always worked a job and pay for a lot of my activities. I play two sports in school, basketball and football and am dedicated to both, though at times it is hard. Even with a reading disability since elementary school, I learned to adapt with a current GPA of 3.3 and currently working to improve for college admission.
My goal is to use my 6'8" height, my 6'9" wing span, my coachability and good attitude to the fullest capacity. I want to attend a college and play Center or a Power Forward, for a program that will see my potential and allow me to keep growing and developing into a better player and person. I believe I could be a true asset to any college team.
