Cross Chadwick '24 Recruiting Profile

Growing up my life was close to perfect.  A loving family, great friends, and playing basketball every day.  In November 2016, this suddenly changed.  I woke up one morning with a terrible headache and was having trouble moving my legs.  I was taken to the hospital and the doctors said a virus was attacking my nervous system.  The headache soon went away, but my legs were so weak I could barely walk.  I could not climb steps and needed help with basic activities.  For 7 months, I struggled with physical therapy.  My doctors began to doubt I would ever walk normally again.  I battled daily to walk again.  Slowly, I began to improve.  In July 2017, I had improved to the point I could walk 300 feet, and I was cleared to resume sports.  I couldn’t run, but I knew I would.  I couldn’t jump, but I believed I would.  It was like starting over, but I had faith that God would bring me through.  I sat a goal of playing basketball in college, and I begin my journey.  Each step of the way has been a battle.  I continually fight to reach new heights.  

As coaches search for the next leader of their team, the players they evaluate all will be tremendous athletes with outstanding accomplishments, but how many’s will and heart have been truly tested?  I have been tested. My strong will and heart are undeniable. 

How many of these players have been pushed to their physical and emotional limits and continued to drive forward against unimaginable odds?  I have.  

How many players will never give up? I will never give up.   

To the coach that gives me the chance to realize my dream of playing college basketball, thank you for the opportunity.   I will not disappoint you.  To the hundreds that pass over me, I hope you are prepared for the fight I will bring to you if we ever battle on the court.
