The highlight of my high school career so far would have to be my freshman season playing on JV. We finished second in our district, which was a disappointment, but I learned a lot about perseverance. In the middle of the season, we started playing down to our competition's level and barely won some games that should have been easy wins. Shortly afterwards, we lost in a blowout to Denton Guyer. The loss gave us a renewed sense of motivation and we ended the season on a five game win streak. When I looked back on the season I realized the amount of focus and discipline it takes to be consistently good through the entirety of a season. The season taught me to not give in when things didn't go our way and to stay focused in practice so that the goal in mind can be achieved.
Throughout my childhood, I have been around the game of basketball. It didn't take me long to realize that it was something I desperately wanted to pursue. I knew that if I wanted to do so, I would have to commit my time to both the court and the classroom. Grades are a high priority of mine and an important aspect of reaching my goals. Along with my dedication to the classroom, I have strict morals that I most of the time successfully implement on myself-- I try to be kind but honest at the same time. I hold people accountable and expect others to do the same for me.
