Personal Statement
I am a 6'3" 185lb shooting gurad/small forward. I attend Prince George High in Prince George, VA. I have been a member of the varsity team since my freshmen year. I started on first string my sophomore and junior year. My leadership on the court, dedication and hard work as well as my teamwork earned me the position of team captain my junior year. My primary position is shooting guard but I am known as a swingman because of my ability to play positions 1-4 with success. As a junior I was selected most valuable player for my team, chosen over six seniors. I am extremely excited about the idea of playing basketball at the next level. I am a hard worker and I am dedicated to the sport. I spend an alloted amount of time daily watching film, reading, weight lifting, working on my game and last but not least, maintaining a healthy diet. I am open to exploring the opportunities at all divisions. I will graduate in 2012. My current GPA is 3.1 and most recent SAT score is 910. I plan to work harder in the classroom to improve my GPA and SAT score. I welcome the opportunity to explore all schools. I currently attend a small high school but would not be opposed to attending a large college. I am a son of military parents, and we have lived all over the United States. I have grandparents and relatives in North Carolina and California so I am interested in schools on both the east and west coast. My parents are Rodney and Amanda Shelton. My father retired from the Army after 221/2 years of service and is currently an instructor for new Soldiers entering the Army. My mother is currently on active duty. She is a registered nurse serving in the Nurse Corps and is currently assigned at Fort Bragg, NC. My older brother Roderick Shelton is currently pursuing a career in the music industry. I am capable of motivating myself as well as others. I am the first player at the gym and the last to leave. I have an eye for the game and I know that in the right place with the right coach providing leadership and guidance i can help a team become all it can be.
