Peter Coe (Stanford Diving Club) '19 Recruiting Profile

    In 2017, I won high bar at state championships with the Stanford Boys Gymnastics Team. I had begun gymnastics five years prior and worked extremely hard to compete as a level 10 gymnast. Sadly, my doctors strongly recommended that I stop gymnastics and switch to swimming due to a facet joint injury. This was devastating news and I was concerned that I would not be able to find a sport that I would be as passionate about.
After a year swimming and water polo, my back had healed. Subsequently, the Diving coach at Los Altos high school recommended that I transition to diving. Training at Stanford Diving Club, I fell in love with the sport.
    This past year I got accepted into multiple UC’s. However, they did not have competitive diving programs. Ever since I can remember, I’ve dreamed of competing for an established collegiate program. Because of this, I have decided to take a gap year to focus on training and part-time attend Foothill Community College's Honors Scholar Program. I plan on practicing at least 24 hours a week with additional conditioning in the mornings. After leaving gymnastics I was afraid that I could never compete at an elite level. However, through redirecting my passion for athletics and acrobats I’ve kept my dream alive to compete at the highest collegiate level through diving.
    I am recognized for my strong work ethic and being a student of the sport.
