Steven Figueroa '24 Recruiting Profile

As a diver for more than 10 years, my knowledge in this sport has grown tremendously, from being mentored by the older divers to becoming the mentor to the younger divers. Diving has taught me so much about what makes a person strong mentally and physically from being capable to learn a new dive and overcoming it. As I started going into high school I learned how important this sport has meant so much to me and inspired me to play at the collegiate level. Diving for college is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I can't be taking for granted.

I'm a very fast and determined learner with a determination to learn new dives and to challenge myself even if it looks impossible. Competing in competitions has strengthened me mentally and physically while also teaching me about how you can never give up even if you have never tried it. Being the oldest in my dive team, I've learned so much about how to be a mentor to my younger teammates by guiding them as they get older.

I've worked hard year-round for diving by practicing in the pool, attending dry land, going to the gym, and participating in multiple competitions for my club team and also diving for my high school. In my freshman year, I wasn't able to qualify for CIF which helped push me to train even harder and drove me to improve myself. In my sophomore year, I qualified for CIF in which I took 4th place in my division. In my Junior year, I qualified for CIF but I ended up placing first in the Division 3 CIF Southern Section Championship. In academics, I study hard with my strong point being math, and maintain a GPA above 3.5.

I'm looking to attend a college where I can be pushed on the diving boards and in the classroom. I am open to any D1 or D2 options and want to find the right college where I can succeed and be pushed academically and in diving.
