Eastern Diving Ch...Personal Statement
I am a student athlete dedicated to excelling in the classroom and on the diving board. I am a junior at Germantown Academy, which is located just outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and I dive for TNT dive club, which is coached by Todd and Tarra Michael. I started my diving career in fourth grade at Germantown Academy Dive Club coached by Tom Henninger. In fact, I was the club’s first ever member. Last year, I joined TNT to gain more three meter experience. I have also been a member of GA’s Varsity Swimming and Diving team for the past three seasons, during which we won the Inter-Academic League Championship each year.
Working with a group of such talented coaches has been inspiring and invaluable. Without them, I would not be the diver and person I am today. My diving scores from last year do not reflect my diving potential as I suffered a concussion that forced me to sit out several of the season’s critical meets. While disappointing at the time, that minor setback has motivated me to improve and refine my diving this year.
Academically, I have an A- average at GA. I am undecided about my career goals, but I am leaning towards something with a mathematics focus, such as accounting or statistics, as I am enrolled in Honors Pre-calculus this year. The perfect college for me is one that combines a strong academic curriculum with a competitive diving program.
