I want to golf in college and get a high quality education at the Division II, III, or NAIA level, and my academic plans for college are to graduate with a degree in computer science.
I grew up in California, which allowed me to play year round and develop the game's fundamentals, and as a whole, I have been playing golf since the fall of 2011, when I started watching PGA Tour golf and my grandfather encouraged me to start playing. I tend to have better accuracy over distance, as I usually hit about 70% of fairways during a round, which is as good, if not better, than most on the PGA Tour. I am conscientious about my academics in that I tend to get stuff done as soon as possible, as well as even working on homework that isn’t due for a few days just to get a head start on it. I have always been able to get assignments turned in on time no matter how busy I am.
Before the coronavirus pandemic, I went to every weekend practice we had from late January to mid March, and school was shut down due to coronavirus the week before the team was going to start practices for tryouts, so my freshman season was cancelled due to that; the team still had Zoom meetings about once a month that I attended, which helped me stay committed to the team in the long run. I have also lettered in choir (I'm in the top choir at my school) and I'm hoping to letter in golf this season.
Since I became a part of the team my sophomore year, I have always had a positive mindset even when playing badly, and unlike other golfers. this has helped me make my teammates, coaches, and everyone else around me better people. My coaches have described me as influential to the success of the team, and despite only being a part of the junior varsity team during my sophomore and junior seasons, the impact that I have had on the Wayzata golf program cemented my promotion to varsity co-captain for my senior season next spring.
