Personal Statement

My next tournament is July 2, 3 and 4 in Whitefish, Montana.

I played in the Montana State Jr. Championship on June 23 and 24 at Polson Bay Golf Course. I shot a 73 both days (146) and placed 1st in the 16 yr. old age group qualifying for the Montana-Alberta Jr. Ryder Cup in Alberta, Canada in August.

JUST PLACED 2ND AT MY STATE HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENT WITH A 149; 2 DAY, 36 HOLE TOURNAMENT.

My name is Joseph Potkonjak and I am a 2 handicap and looking to play college golf at the same time as getting a great education. I have won two junior tournaments which were the Whitefish Junior Championship in the 12-13 age group shooting 74 and the Flathead Valley Junior Golf Championship in the 14-15 age group also shooting a 74. Golf is my passion and I am very much looking forward to having the opportunity to continue my dream of playing college golf.

My 2015 high school golf season started on March 9th and our first tournament was March 26 and 27 in Missoula, MT. I did not play as well as I hoped, but did turn around at the second tournament and shot a 74, placing 2nd. We play a total of 7 tournaments, both 1 and 2 days, with Divisionals being held in Helena, MT on May 5. Our state tournament is May 12 and 13 in Billings, MT. I will also be participating in other Open Tournaments this Spring and will be posting all results.

I just returned from a great Spring Break vacation in San Diego where I got to play Torrey Pines North Course and shot a 76. One of the best golfing experiences ever!

I qualified for this event at the Montana State Jr. Tournament. This was a really good event with 36 holes played the first day and 18 the second. The first 18 was "Best Ball" and I shot a 69. The second 18 was "Alternate Ball" and my partner and I shot a 68. The last 18 was "Match Play" and I won my match, shooting a 71.

1st day I shot a 78 on the South Course which is 6,500 yds and par 71. 2nd day I had a really tough day and shot an 83, but birdied and eagled the last two holes. I played the North course , 6,800 yds, par 72. 3rd day I shot an 84 on the South course. The first 9 was not good for a 49, but then I shot a 35 on the second nine, all pars and one birdie. 3 day total was 245.

I shot a 73 both days for a total of 146. I tied for 4th place out of 25 in the 16-17 age group and tied for 5th out of 51 overall. I placed 1st out of the 16 year olds which qualified me for the Montana-Alberta Jr. Ryder Cup Tournament in Lethbridge, Canada in August.

Scored a 76 on Tuesday and a 73 on Wednesday, placing 2nd in the tournament with a 149. (Winning score 145) State is an 8 hour drive away. We left on Sunday, practice round on Monday and Tourney on Tuesday and Wednesday. Played from the whites for a course total of 6,200 yds.

Fund Raiser for the University of Montana Scholarship Association. Just a fun 6 person scramble at my home club. Our team shot a gross score of 53. And during the "Longest Drive" hole, I had a 374 yard drive right down the fairway.
