Personal Statement

As a newly competitive golfer, my goal is to contribute focus, dedication and perseverance to a team on the collegiate level.  I am enjoying the challenge of improving all aspects of my game on a daily basis. I use criticism as education to propel my skills. I also appreciate the process of learning the game from a strategic and mental perspective. In doing so, I was able to bring my handicap down - starting the 2021 season - from a 17.6 to a 4.7 and counting.

I have been working at a local tennis and paddle pro shop since freshman year. At my job I am prompt, reliable, organized and collaborative with my fellow employees. This job requires me to work independently but to also understand the importance of being flexible with the rest of the team.  am always trying to think of new ways to improve the business and have made many friends with members at the club. It is these same skills that I display at my job that I bring to the golf course.

  • 9/25/21 to 9/26/21
  • Score: R1 93 and R2 82. Length: 6502 and 6600. I had a troubling time at Mountain View on the first day but came back very strong on the second. I felt that on the first day my swing was not with me. Lots of my shots were hit short and my green in regulation percentage was not where it should be. The bunkers on both days were rock solid which was very hard to get up and down from, but I managed to on some holes. Being short so much of the time during my first round put me in danger of these traps. The second day was much better and a cleaner round. My greens in regulation were very good and I seemed to find my swing back. My ups and downs were very strong too, as I was putting most balls within 5 feet from 40 yards. The greens were decent on both days but slow due to a heavy grain. Overall the course was nice to play but challenging when in traps.
  • Camp/Event
  • Junior Event at Ramsey G&CC
  • 8/26/21 to 8/26/21
  • Finished 4th Place Overall. Score: 38 on front 9: Length (9 holes): 2833. Tournament was called off due to lightening, my actual score at the time was +4 thru 11 holes. We were put on a weather delay after the first 11 holes but they only counted the front 9 for scoring. I played really well considering the courses conditions which were not very nice. It was solid tournament practice.
  • Camp/Event
  • NJPGA Junior University Open (2 courses)
  • 8/24/21 to 8/25/21
  • Score: R1 84 and R2 80. Length: 6380 and 6340. Springdale was a nice course. The greens were slower than I was used to but I managed to two putt and 1 putt most holes. My front 9 was much worse than the back with a 44. We were not able to warm up in the morning which hurt, but I was able to come back on the back 9 with a 40. Rutgers golf club was the same in terms of conditions. Slow greens but a nice course. I played really well that day with a 39 on the front but blew up on the 18, finishing with a double. My score for the back was a 41 totaling 80. For this two day tournament I felt much better especially with the improvement from my other two.
  • Camp/Event
  • Junior Event at Forest Hill
  • 8/17/21 to 8/17/21
  • Score: 87. Length: 6547 yards. The course was nice and conditions were exceptional. The greens were pretty fast and It was a little windy on the back 9 but manageable. My irons were a little more consistent but not how I would like them.
  • Camp/Event
  • Junior Event at Essex Fells
  • 8/16/21 to 8/16/21
  • Score: 91. Length: 6531 yards. Course was really nice but very challenging. It was my first day back from training in Florida for 3 weeks, so green speeds were an issue. Putts were not dropping but my driver and irons were exceptional.
  • Camp/Event
  • IMG training camp
  • 7/18/21 to 8/07/21
  • I started the Spring 2021 High School Team as a 17 handicap. In four months, I reduced it to a 10.1 as of end of August 2021. I trained at IMG with former LPGA champion, Charlotta Sorenstam. I was there for 3 weeks and practiced at their facilities as well as local golf courses. I improved my score quite a bit, by getting my irons more accurate and putting with correct speeds as well as lines.
