Spring 2023
Jack Rubo Personal Statement
I am currently a Junior attending Lakeland Union High School, a Division 1 (for golf) High School in Minocqua, WI. I am currently a 2-sport athlete playing golf and ice hockey. I have maintained a 3.5 average GPA while taking advanced courses.
I grew up living on and playing Timber Ridge golf course in Minocqua, WI and have been playing golf since I was 4 years old. This still remains my home course.
My goal is to play collegiate golf and continue on at a professional level. I am very open to relocating to help attain this goal.
I have been lucky enough to have been to the Wisconsin State tournament both my Freshman and Sophomore years in both my sports. I plan to continue to play Hockey and Golf at a Varsity level my Junior and Senior years. However, I have recently focused all of my off-season activities and training on golf in order to play at the collegiate level.
As a Freshman I played Varsity hockey. Early on in the hockey season, MRI results showed a full ACL tear in my right knee from an older injury that Fall. My Orthopedic Surgeon recommended surgery to repair the ACL, but gave me the option to continue on to help my team advance to State. I choose to play. Our hockey team made it to the sectional final where I scored 2 goals to help our team advance to State for the first time in School history. Immediately after the State tournament I had the surgery and 9 weeks later I was cleared to play my freshman year of golf. That year I was the #3 golfer and we took 2nd Place at the Division 2 State Tournament.
I am hoping my competitive spirit and commitment to not only improve but persevere, can be found in my academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities.
Below is a current list of tournaments that I will be playing after my Junior High School Golf season ends this Spring. *Subject to change.
