Kaleb Haskey '23 Recruiting Profile

From a young age, hockey has been my biggest passion. It has taught me so much over the 9 years. My short term goal is to make the Calgary Royals U18-AAA team while long term I hope to reach the college level and beyond. The experiences I have gained from hockey, not only the game but life experiences as well as allowed me to mature quickly. My high maturity level also enables me to perform in high pressure situations. 2 examples of this is in 2019, scoring the game winning goal in the ESSO Minor Hockey Week Championship as well as in 2020, scoring the insurance goal in the ESSO Minor Hockey Week Championship supporting my teams to winning back to back years.

On the ice, I am a very well rounded and versatile player. Every coach I've had has mentioned my high hockey IQ as one of my top strengths as a player. This allows me to be able to read the play before it happens and put myself in a position for not only myself to succeed but also the team. My hockey IQ also lets me be a great penalty killer being able to put sticks in the right lanes and stop opponents from generating any offense. I am also a very good net front presence and greasy player, the front of the net being where I get the majority of my goals from. Additionally, I often get underneath the skin of my opponents and am very good at drawing penalties.

Outside of the rink I am also a very good student. My two favorite subjects are math and science which I excel at both. Although my career path is undetermined right now some things that interest me are Sports Medicine, Teaching and Real Estate. My dream is to be able to achieve a scholarship at a school that is both competitive academically and athletically.
