Personal Statement

My singular goal has remained constant for years and I do not see it changing, and that is to be recruited to play hockey for the very best college.  I am extraordinarily committed and work every day towards this goal both from a hockey and academic prospective because both are equally important.  For example, academically, year over year I have been a straight A student and test in the upper echelons of all standardized tests. I am a diligent learner, who takes his time to absorb the material presented to me both by my teachers and coaches alike.  Entering my first year of high school I have chosen to challenge myself by enrolling in honors math and slated to take AP courses thereafter.  I understand the importance of education, and how it can open many doors of opportunity for me to go with my athletic feats.

As to my hockey, I am constantly working to improve my craft.  I get on the ice every chance I get and beyond that I am a gym rat who knows I have to continue growth both on and off the ice.  I am even lucky enough to work with a professional nutritionist to help me understand the importance of clean eating and its impact on hockey performance and recovery.  I consider myself a student of the game and pride myself on being extremely coachable.  I feel that I can constantly make an impact with or without the puck.  I am a 200-foot player that aims to make my teammates around me better.  My understanding of the game allows me to create space and put myself in position for puck to find me, and hopefully set myself up to use my strong and quick release.

Hockey and school both require commitment, hard work, practice, and unfortunately at times failure.  I have learned and loved the importance of being part of a team and to be a good person.  All of this makes me better and I cannot wait to take everything I have learned and will continue to learn to your college and hockey team! I have no doubt I will be a valuable asset to the team.
