Personal Statement
I learned a valuable lesson about motivation and hard work several years ago that still guides my passions and pursuit today. I made my first elite travel team as a pee wee but was cut the next season. It was a huge disappointment. My coach told me I had two choices. I could be angry, or I could turn my disappointment into motivation. It took me two seasons to win back my spot back on the top team in my state. And over the next 3 seasons and 70 starts, I won a National Championship and compiled a 729 win %, .892 sv % and a 2.38 GAA before leaving to attend prep school. During that time I saw the value of always working hard in practice and during the off-season. I learned the importance of remaining calm and focused on achieving my goals no matter what the score, situation or obstacle may be on or off the ice. I've carried all of those lessons with me to face the new challenges I faced at the prep level academically and athletically. I love being part of a team dynamic. I'm outgoing, I like to meet new people and make friends. I've always tried to be a good classmate and teammate who encourages others and interacts positively with my coaches and teachers. I recognize the responsibility of representing my team, my school, my family and myself professionally and respectfully. I know achieving my current and future goals in college relies on my continued academic success and continually improving my game. I’m motivated by these challenges and confident in my work-ethic and abilities to compete at higher levels both on and off the ice.
