Personal Statement
My name is Lucas Lisowsky and I am a sophomore at Fremd High School in Palatine, Illinois. I am 5’8” and weigh 135 pounds. I speak English and Ukrainian at home and am learning Spanish in school. My GPA over the course of high school so far is 3.6 unweighted. Inside of school I am most interested in my business classes.
I have been skating since I was four and began playing hockey when I was five. I have always enjoyed playing hockey and I love being able to get on the ice to skate. I started my Learn to Skate classes at the local ice rink and began playing hockey at the same rink for the house team, the Renegades. I have played since Mite level all the way up to where I am today on a high school team. I started playing defense for my first season but after that moved to forward and have played forward since then. However, during every season I have dropped back to defense, mostly on the PK. I have also played one game as a goalie at the Bantam level, and we won. Today on my team I play right wing and sometimes center or left wing.
When I can I watch any and all hockey games I can find on TV. During the weekend I play Xbox and frequently play the NHL games with my friends. Also I watch NHL highlights and recaps on YouTube in my free time. During the week I am mostly taken up with homework, studying, and hockey practices. Most of our hockey games are during the weekend and on average I am on the ice five times a week. When it is cold enough I enjoy playing on my outdoor rink and skating with my twin brother and father.
I have attended many camps including the Lake Forest Academy Camp in the summer. I also try to get on the ice for free ice time for scrimmages or extra practice during the week. In the summer I attend at least one camp and attend weekly skills camps. I have played on the Junior Varsity level team all of my spring and fall seasons with my high school. This year I was double rostered, allowing me to play at the Varsity level when needed. I played my maximum amount of games at the Varsity level, six, scoring one goal and receiving a couple of assists.
At school I participate in Student Council, Spanish Club, and business related clubs. Through Ukrainian Scouting I am working toward the equivalent of an Eagle Scout. I volunteer outside of school and one of my favorite places to volunteer for is Feed My Starving Children.
I want to play beyond high school because of my love for hockey. I am interested in playing D1 College level mostly but am also interested in Junior level hockey or D3 College level. I am always willing to listen and learn from my coaches and I am always trying to improve. So far this season I have lead the JV team in goals and assists and would love to continue leading my team in college as well.
