Personal Statement

My name is Hunter Rainier, I am a Junior at Lake City High School in Lake City, Michigan. I fell in love with hockey during a learn to play hockey event and never looked back. When I started playing goalie at 7 years old it was because I was a late starter and not very good at skating and taller than most kids so I filled the smaller net, I play goalie today as a taller kid and one of the best skaters on the ice because I made the commitment to attend power skating classes held by the local varsity coach from a nearby town. I firmly believe that hard work will beat talent when talent doesn’t work hard and consistently strive to be the best on and off the ice. I am a long time future pro student and attend private lessons with Jeff Lerg. In my spare time I am a level 3 USA hockey referee and mentor younger goalies by helping out the local program in my area. In addition to hockey, I also play football and baseball.
