Personal Statement
I've always known that I'm going to do what I can to play at the highest level possible. There's nothing I love more than hockey, so I have no plans to stop anytime soon. I know I have the opportunity to go as far as I can and am willing to give what it takes to get me to where I want to go. As with anything else, it takes work, but it's nothing new to me. I have dreams like any other kid, but I'm more adamant about realizing them. My current goal is to find a university where I'll be able to compete at a high level and earn as much playing time as possible. At the end of the day, I really just want to play hockey, but I know that I won't be satisfied with anything but the best fit for me.
Personally, I feel like I have a few key traits that make me stand out. First, I'm coachable. I've never been one to reject suggestions just because I "know what I'm doing". I'm willing to give anything a try if it means making myself better; I've been listening to coaches from my private lessons at Stauber's Goalcrease for years now, and I've visibly seen my game improve just from listening to someone who might know a little bit more than me. Second, I'm more determined than most. Ever since I've started playing high school football, I've been in a weight room somewhere at least four or five days out of the week. At this point, it's become part of my routine, and I actually have a lot of fun doing it and seeing myself improve. The same applies to practices and lessons on the ice; every time I have the opportunity to skate, I try to find something I can work on and improve something every time. I'm never going to be perfect at everything, but I know I can get pretty dang close. Finally, I'm pretty outgoing and will quickly try to fit in with whatever team I land on. I feel like the most important part to a team's success is how well its players can work together, and there's no better way to build chemistry than to just spend time with the boys and enjoy your time playing hockey together.
