My hockey journey started at age eight. I decided to try goalie since our team didn’t have one. I quickly learned just how much fun I could have playing hockey. Throughout my first few years I was not as good as I am now, but I stuck with it because I knew my team was counting on me. An example would be during a game against our cross-town rival, Rockhurst High School. When our team was losing by two points after the first period and the team was demoralized, I rallied them to end up winning five to two. This drove me to be a better goaltender and leader. I have also shown leadership by volunteering to lead the new scouts in my Boy Scout troop in which I am currently a Life Scout. I enjoy being a big part of things and helping others, which is why I want to become a doctor. I am a great leader throughout all my activities and aim to better myself every day.
