Personal Statement
My name is Max Gerken, I play right tackle for Parkhill South High School in Missouri and in the graduating class of 2024.
My goals for college are to graduate with a bachelor's degree in Health's Science to work towards becoming a Physical Therapist and play College football while adding everything I can to the team development and a teamwork atmosphere.
I am a very disciplined individual and respond well to being coached. I am a quick learner and a student of the game. I truly love the game of football, as it allows me to emulate everything I see or am taught to do from my coaches and fellow teammates. Football has taught me teamwork, camaraderie and that no one can be larger than the team. I believe in leadership and leading by example which I display every day at practice and during our Friday night games. I approach every day with a positive attitude and the will to succeed academically and athletically. I draw a lot of inspiration from my parents and their hard-working mindset that they instilled in my early in life. They always told me never settle and work hard every day to achieve the goals I have set for myself.
I differentiate myself from other prospective collegiate players by my ironclad character with my work ethic that I bring to my daily workouts, practice or studying for an exam while maintaining a 3.5 GPA. My character is brought to light by my ability to care about people, my willingness to help in any situation and never settling. My work to improve in my daily life and my performance as a football player is exemplified by my ability to refine my skills every day and never rest because there is always someone working harder to beat me on the field and in the classroom. As my coaches always tell me, ‘time to chop wood’, I look forward to those team workouts every week. On the academic side of the house, I can always do better, but my GPA is solid and steadily improving. From freshman year to present day, I’ve shown consistent improvement in my GPA and will continue this development throughout my educational lifetime.
Thank you for your time and interest in me for a possible fit for your college football program.
Thank You,
Max Gerken
