Edward (EJ) Goveia '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Edward "EJ" Goveia and I am a 17 year old Senior in high school. I have been playing Hockey since I was three years old and it has always been my obsession. I had tried other sports like lacrosse, soccer, baseball, basketball, etc. None of them had the effect on me like hockey did. It's been my dream and my goal to continue to play hockey at the D1/D3 college level.

I have many characteristics that make me a great candidate for your team. I am hard-working, resilient, responsible, receptive to new things and mature. I'm not only receptive, but i comprehend things quickly. I complete the task at hand and do what is asked of me and more. I always focus on what will push me towards my goal and make me a better person, player and student which is what really gave me the push to move away from home and live in a dorm to play prep school hockey. 

What makes me unique is the tendency to lead by example. I am a natural born leader, I like to take charge and be someone others can look up to. My ability to unify a group, whether it be my team in the locker room, on the bench or around the net before a game is what i think my greatest personality trait is. Those same skills had helped me to lead my 2020-21 season team to nationals when all odds were against us that year.
