Since the day I first started playing hockey as a Termite at 4 years old, I immediately fell in love with the sport, and could not get enough of playing. During the summers, I was always either in the garage or in our cul-de-sac playing roller hockey. During the winters, even though we have practices or games almost every day, I always enjoy going to the outdoor rink with my friends and teammates. In my early years of playing, I was a forward, but I decided to switch to defense. I see myself as an offensive defenseman, because I am always looking to take the ice that is given and get into the offensive zone myself, or find a passing opportunity to get the team down ice.
In academics, I work hard to get the best grades possible, because that is one of the top priorities for a student athlete. I believe that it is important to put in maximum effort both on and off the ice. I always try to learn as much information as possible, in order to get smarter as both a student and an athlete. I see myself as a leader on my team, because I am always encouraging and lifting up my teammates. I keep my composure and my character during games, so that my teammates will also keep their composure, and stay focused on getting the win.
During the offseason, I mostly enjoy lifting weights in order to get bigger and stronger. I would credit most of my improvement from getting stronger last summer, which helped me showcase my skills against the older players. My dedication and commitment to playing hockey will definitely translate into dedication and commitment in the classroom for college. I would love to play hockey at the collegiate level, in order to further develop as a player on and off the ice, and to also receive a quality education.
