My name is Jacob Wilson. I am currently a junior in high school pushing myself to achieve all of my goals. My colleagues, teammates, and coaches see me as a very efficient learner. Adapting to my surroundings comes naturally. I catch on to details very quickly. Working towards my dream can be very difficult, but problem solving is one of my specialties. Even though hockey is what I put most of my time into, school and work is extremely important to me as well.
Working hard on the ice is especially important to me, but I also see my work ethic in school as a top priority. School and education has always been first in my life. Learning is something I find to be incredibly valuable. By learning, whether it is through book work, or through my own life experiences, it helps me to succeed at whatever I decide to do in life. In order to further myself in school, I understand that I need to be able to fund my education. This is why I have decided to be homeschooled, so that I can work a full time job, play hockey, and do my school work with whatever time I have left. I have never given up on any challenge until it is completed. No matter how much is on my plate, I am always confident in my ability to finish whatever I start.
I started playing hockey on June 16, 2016. Within the first two months of being on the ice, I was playing on a single "A" team. After the season ended I felt like I needed to push myself harder. During my eighth month of playing hockey I decided to try out for the tier two team I currently play on.
Playing for a hockey team is like having another family. It brings out the best of me. I study hours upon hours to be the very best hockey player I can be. Not only for me, but for my team as a whole. On and off the ice I see myself as a leader, pushing other people to do their best at all times. I can collaborate and work well with anyone. Leadership, responsibility, never giving up, and pushing myself to be a better person are just a few things that my family and team see from me on a daily basis.
Hockey has changed my life for the better. It is a passion of mine. I have set a goal both short term, and long term for hockey. My dream is to play hockey professionally. I am a play maker, and a goal scorer. I play physically when needed. I can play any position to benefit my team, and I’m not afraid of any obstacle that might get in my way.
