Personal Statement
“HARD WORK beats talent when talent doesn’t WORK HARD”
Thank you for visiting my profile as you look to fill your Class of 2022 Roster.
My name is Mason Slazyk, and I have played lacrosse for the last 7 years. My lacrosse experience includes our local club team, box lacrosse, and Summer Travel Lacrosse. I have also attended Lacrosse focused summer camps and worked 1:1 with college level players.
As my final year of high school approaches, I am excited to pursue my dream of playing competitive Lacrosse at the college level. My goals as a lacrosse player on your team, are to be a starter by my Sophomore/Junior year. Additionally, I want to be valued as a leader on the team I am privileged enough to play for.
What do I have to offer your team? If you are looking for the player that is the first one on the field, and the first one to congratulate the Keeper, consider me. If you are looking for a player who is coachable and works on the suggested changes, until it’s second nature, consider me. If you are looking for a player who has played 100% of each of his varsity games, but isn’t afraid to let other’s be in the spotlight, consider me. If you are looking for someone, who coaches look to, to make in game decisions and ask for input during Timeouts for adjustments, consider me. If you are looking for someone who is a multi-sport Varsity Athlete who uses the skills from these other sports to improve their lacrosse game, consider me.
What sets me apart from all of the other players you are considering? The thing I take the most pride in about myself is my integrity, both on and off the field. I ALWAYS want to LEAD with integrity, so that regardless of the outcome, I can hold my head up high. I am a multi-sport athlete which has allowed me to work on my speed, agility and overall athleticism. I play defense in Soccer, which has made me a better offensive lacrosse player. It has helped understand the defensive plays when I’m playing offense on lacrosse. My speed is my greatest asset as a player followed closely by being able to read the field from the X position as an Attack. I’ve been able to participate in multi Varsity level sports, while maintaining my First Honors status throughout high school. I have also taken multiple AP and Dual Credit Classes during this time, because I also realize how important my education is. Lastly, I don’t take any of these for granted. I am so appreciative of all of the people who have supported me while I have pursued multiple sports and a great education. These people include my parents, siblings, extended family, my coaches and everyone in my lacrosse family.
