My college goal is to play lacrosse at a school that places high value on becoming a better human being. Who we are as a person is one of the few things in life that we have full control over. I am a good candidate for any team because of my high work ethic. Every day is an opportunity to improve at your sport and as a person, and I don't like wasting that time. Aside from my work ethic, my lacrosse IQ sets me apart from other recruits. It allows me to be a coach on the field and understand what is happening before it happens. During summer club lacrosse, high-level players from other schools have said they enjoy playing with me because "I am always open" due to my lacrosse IQ helping me know where the open spots are going to be. One of my high school coaches said his favorite thing about me is how I always manage to be open. He said he would look away for a second, and it was like I would teleport right to the open spot. I tell my teammates to always be ready for a pass because I know they are going to be open in a spot before they get there. My work ethic also translates to my academics in the fact I take a very challenging workload of AP and Honors classes while playing varsity sports. My character is very important to me, so I spend time volunteering in my community (Make-A-Wish, Special Olympics, Kids Food Basket). For three years, I have participated in the Wish-A-Mile 300 Cycling event. It is a 3-day and 300-mile (100+ miles per day) cycling event that raises money for Make-A-Wish Michigan to grant wishes for kids with a critical illnesses. I spend my free time from summer football and lacrosse training by riding hundreds of miles. I also raise money for the cause and, to date, have raised over $15,000 to grant wishes.
