I started playing lacrosse in the third grade at attack, but halfway through my sixth grade year I volunteered to fill in the gap at goalie when the eighth grade keeper moved up to the high school. I quickly began to love the position because of the amount of leadership and responsibility it requires. Becoming a goalie made me a student of the game and forced me to study offensive tendencies as well as learn how to command the defense properly. This type of determination in studying the game transformed my approach to academics, making me a more curious student and individual.
Lacrosse has made me become the person I am today and every summer I volunteer for Coach Dudley to teach kids in Newark, New Jersey, how to play lacrosse. I absolutely love this opportunity and I am incredibly grateful to connect with these kids. My job is to introduce them to the game, but I always try to spark their interests within the sport and spread the love I have for lacrosse onto them because it would be amazing to have others learn as much from the game as I did. Every Summer I look forward to seeing the kids I’ve developed friendships with as well as the friendships I have yet to make with the people I haven't met.
These experiences have furthered my love for lacrosse and I hope to continue to play in college to continue my development as a person as well as try to improve the games and lives of others.
