Andrew Jasiura '15 Recruiting Profile

I was first introduced to the sport of lacrosse at the age of 10, by a few neighborhood friends who had picked up the game. Once I started playing, I quickly grew to love the sport, and began to focus the majority of my spare time on lacrosse, giving up most other sports and activities so I could begin to play lacrosse year round to grow as a player and refine my skills. I continued to dedicate most of my time to lacrosse, playing not only on my high school’s team, but also on multiple travel and premier teams in Western New York. My passion for lacrosse is not only seen in my work ethic on and off the field, but also in my ability to overcome setbacks and challenges related to sport. Most noticeably this past summer when I fractured my collarbone in my high school semifinal game, yet continued to persevere, eventually being able to play this past July.

Lacrosse has become my main athletic focus however, I also play football to constantly improve my toughness, strength, and overall athleticism. While I am constantly training to improve, I also strive to improve in all other areas of life, most noticeably in academics as well as service to my community. I am an Ignatian Scholar and have maintained honor roll status at Canisius High School, a college preparatory institution. I am a member of the National Honor Society, and have participated in various service projects, most noticeably my recent immersion trip to Boyle Heights in the heart of Los Angeles where I was able to assist impoverished members of this community at the Dolores Mission.

As a lacrosse player, I realize how important it is to consistently train, practice, and grow as a player in the game. However, I realize how equally important it is to be a smart player, and a good teammate, which my well-rounded background has shaped me to be.
