My name is Neel Shenoy and I am a Junior at Carroll High School in Southlake, TX. I started taking face-offs 3 years ago when the team required it, and since then, with Coach Frady's (Southlake Carroll HS) help I have started for my school's varsity team since my freshman year, earning the award of All-District Honorable Mention for my performance in my sophomore year. Coming from an unconventional area with limited resources, I've had to work hard, and it is something that I embrace and am ready for. Over the past year, I have been working with Coach Gurenlian and Coach Filios at the Face-off Academy to help take my game to the next level and end up spending a lot of time away from home. This summer, I had the opportunity to compete at highest levels at FOA i95 Cup, Maverik Showtime, Under Armor All-America, Nike All-Star and with my club team (Texas Nationals) at NLF and Naptown tournaments. I continue to strive for more and I know that there is more work to be done. I was a safety for my middle school D1 football team and played in my school's basketball team, but decided to pursue my passion for Lacrosse in High School. I have also competed in many state-level Taekwondo competitions, a sport that I have been training in since I was 4 years old, and I am currently working towards my 3rd-degree blackbelt.
On the academic front, I finished my sophomore year with a 104.3790/100 GPA (4.18/4.0) and 22 in my class of 713 students. I enjoy challenging myself, and I feel my course load reflects this. I have taken multiple Advanced Placement classes, and have earned the AP Scholar with Honor award. I am also a member of the Carroll Medical Academy, a highly selective program my school offers for students who show an aptitude for math and science and are interested in medical careers. Last summer, I had the opportunity to intern with the Kenan Flagler School of Business where I helped a professor in her research regarding human behavior and data analysis. I also have experience shadowing a top Orthopedic Surgeon in Dallas.
Outside of this, I also play for Nation United, a part of a non-profit organization which aims to promote participation in sports lacking diversity across ethnic, socioeconomic, and geographic boundaries. I also volunteer at SASO (Scholars & Athletes Serving Others), an inclusive service organization for high school boys and their mothers to be of service to those in need and to enhance my personal growth and academic endeavors in our community.
I continue to work hard to pursue my dream of playing college lacrosse and becoming a doctor some day.
