The first time I sat in an erg was in the early spring of my sophomore year and I did not know anything about the correct rowing form or technique. My first time in a boat was not any better, as I ended up catching a crab as soon as I shoved away from the dock. To me, this was a sign that this sport requires a lot of practice and hard work. My goal is to follow in my brother's footsteps and row in college and I plan to give everything I've got to reach that goal. This past spring I spent hours and hours on the erg, and everyday I found myself getting better. I saw significant improvement from my first 2k which was a 7:24 to my most recent 2k of 6:51, completed in May 2023. I am excited to continue to work and grind for this sport and my team, not only on the erg, but also in the boat. I feel my early success will only improve as my high school rowing career progresses.
