Personal Statement

I believe that I am a good addition to a team because I have been told that I am an excellent motivator. I am sure you have probably heard this before but I leave everything I have on the water. I am only a freshman and I have already thrown up multiple times trying to achieve pr's. I never start anything that I don't intend to finish, in other words I try my best to live a disciplined life. In terms of athletic goals I would like to row at a college level. If I do have the opportunity to row at a collegiate level I will probably stop running competitively during the academic year and focus only on rowing.

High School Information

  • 2024 Junior Varsity Team
  • 2023 Freshman Team

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • Hidden River Chase
  • 11/05/23 to 11/05/23
  • Not really a tournament just an event. I rowed in a 4+ and got 4th out of 7 not to bad for a crew with no racing experience on account of the fact that my team almost never races freshmen in the fall no matter how much middle school experience you have since middle school rowing is essentially a 2-year intro to the sport.

Training

  • weight training
  • 3 years
  • My dad taught me how to lift when I was pretty young. I started off with two five pound dumbbells and nothing else and slowly acquired more and more equipment. Because I have a physical due to cross country and rowing I am now permitted to lift in my schools newly renovated weight room. I only lift daily during the winter.
  • Long distance running.
  • 2 years
  • I run long distance for an organization through school called students run Philly style. This fall I finished the Philadelphia half marathon in 1h 44m. I run long distance regularly if I have time
  • track running
  • 1 year
  • I have a bit of a time gap between school ending and going to rowing so I fill it either with studying or going to the temple university track a block away and doing this workout: warm-up, then 4x400m (this is by myself not a relay) 2x800 then I cap it off with a mile and a stretch. I go a little light because this is before I go to rowing (don't worry, I have supportive coaches who make sure I don't get an overuse injury, something that I am very conscious of.)

Additional Sports

  • Cross Country
  • 1 year
  • Varsity Team
