Personal Statement

The first time I picked up an oar was in the seventh grade, at a spring Learn-to-Row camp. At first, rowing appeared to be a daunting and foreign sport. However, I quickly gained interest, and joined Cape Henry Collegiate's rowing team in the spring of the following year. From that point on, I truly began to build a passion for the sport, and all facets that came with it.

In the fall of 2024, I transferred to Frank W. Cox High School, where I joined the affiliated club team, Coastal Virginia Community Rowing. That season, I continued to build on my technique, as well as strength; I have stuck with the program through the winter and current spring season. I certainly believe that rowing has shaped me to become my own leader, in both athletic resilience as well as my academic career.

As my junior year is coming to a close, my desire to prove what I am capable of, especially in school courses with AP and final exams, is only heightened. In terms of collegiate opportunities, what I look for most is an institution that offers intellectual rigor, a strong community, and the facilities to further improve upon my athletic vitality.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
