John Hawley '25 Recruiting Profile

I've grown up playing soccer since I could walk, and as long as I can remember, I've dreamt of playing soccer for the rest of my life. The sport has shaped who I have become. It has made me an athletic individual with a passion for exercise. It's even made me appreciate the outdoors more. The passion, the frustration, the wins, all of it draws my attention. Besides playing soccer, watching the sport and talking about it with my friends are two of my favorite things to do. I am privileged to be able to do what I love. 

Outside of soccer, I enjoy math, the gym, and piano, all of which I take to the furthest of my abilities. I've spent 11 years playing the piano doing two recitals a year since then. As of June 2023, I have performed in Carnegie Hall in New York. This feat took years of dedication, hard work, and most of all patience. These skills have translated into every aspect of my life especially soccer. 

Attending BASIS Oro Valley, ranked 3rd in the state of Arizona, is no easy task. I spend time daily on my academics ensuring my success in all of my classes, all but one of which are APs. At school, I've found a home with welcoming teachers and friends that I hope to embody. My persistance and determination, as well as kindness and sportsmanship, are shown not just on the pitch but off it as well, and I hope I can show that to you.
