Personal Statement

My name is Lucas Apparecido and I am 16 years old. I am from Brazil and I have lived in the United States for about 5 years.  I love to make and cultivate friends. I also consider myself a great team player, and a fast learner. The biggest goal of my life is to go to a school where I can focus on my academics to pursue a  professional career aspirations and play soccer. I spent my high school sophmore year as a on campus student athlete  in IMG Academy, what provided me an outstanding opportunity to experience a college like life.  I feel now that I am even more prepared for the challenges that a college student athlete would face.   I take academics very serious and I always strive to get good grades.  I have always put in my mind that school is my priority, but one of my dreams is also to play soccer at a College level,  so that I can take what I learn and teach it to my kids if they decide to play the same sport. Something that separates me from other recruits is that I am very persistent and dedicated both in my sport and academics. If you give me a task and I can’t do it the first time I will go to the ends of the Earth to be able to do it well and right. If I feel like I am not performing well or not doing a certain skill or move well,  I will take my own free time to go out to perfect it, so that I can apply it in games and help my teammates.  In school, if I am not doing well in a certain class I will stay up late studying so that I won’t have trouble with it in the future.  I also believe in providing back the society, that is why I strive to have at least 50 hours of volunteer work every year since my freshman year.
