Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Reza Mehrinfar, and I am currently a junior at Fairmont Preparatory Academy in Anaheim, California, graduating in 2024. I began my soccer journey when I was 7 years old at Strikers FC Irvine, initially as a defensive midfielder, and more recently these past years, as an attacking midfielder. Currently, I am playing at the MLS Next '06 team at Strikers. Throughout all these years, I would define myself as a hardworking, ambitious, and diligent student-athlete who values the pursuit of betterment in our society, whether it's on or off the soccer pitch.
I am very driven to play soccer in college because I love the sport and enjoy being on a team where I can meet new people. On the pitch, I am a very skillful and dynamic central midfielder. I have strong abilities in figuring out ways to break down my opponents and creating opportunities that can lead my team to win. I believe that I'm a capable and highly competitive student-athlete who strives to lead as an example and achieve victory as a team, rather than as a person individually. While outside the field, I am more reserved, yet outgoing to those with similar interests as mine. I hope to contribute to my college team in whatever position that will best suit the team.
During these past few years, I have been able to juggle school, ASB, community service clubs, and club/high school soccer while maintaining a high-grade point average with honors and AP classes. I believe my achievements and experiences will be valuable tools needed for college and for my future application in aerospace engineering or computer science. In addition, I traveled to Spain to play for the Getafe F.C youth soccer team. This is included both training and various scrimmages, along with video analysis. The experience was very unique and enjoyable, and I am very humbled to have been part of that soccer program. Not only did I learn a new style of play and get a different perspective of the pitch, but it also improved my vision and confidence level.
